Dr Chin was born in Malaysia and came to Perth as a child with her family. She studied medicine at the University of Western Australia and graduated with a MBBS in 1992. In 1998 she completed her GP training and obtained her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
She has a Diploma of Child Health from Princess Margaret Hospital, a Certificate of Sexual and Reproductive Health from what was Family Planning WA, and undergone an advanced training course in Sports Medicine as well as a GP Upskilling course in Breast Diseases.
Dr Yien Peng Chin has worked as a GP since 1996 in Perth and since 2004 in Bunbury.
