Why Asthma Management Matters

Asthma is a chronic condition that can affect your quality of life if not properly managed. Regular check-ups, monitoring, and tailored treatment plans help prevent severe attacks, hospitalisations, and long-term lung damage.

How can I book an asthma appointment?

Booking an asthma appointment with a GP in Dalyellup is easy. You can call the clinic directly on (08) 9795 6422 or book online through the clinic’s website to schedule an appointment.

What does an Asthma Education appointment include?

We offer asthma education clinics for people living with asthma. The appointment includes an education session with Lucy our Registered Nurse/Asthma Educator.

The session would include:

  • An assessment of severity of your asthma
  • Spirometry testing (lung function) if appropriate
  • Understanding asthma-signs, symptoms and triggers
  • How to use medication and spacers correctly
  • Asthma self-management including consideration of an asthma action plan and immunisation
  • Asthma first aid

You will need to see your Doctor for an action plan and bring this with you, as well as your medication and spacer to the session with Lucy.

How is asthma diagnosed?

Your GP will assess your symptoms, medical history, and may perform lung function tests such as spirometry to confirm a diagnosis.

Can asthma be managed?

Yes. With proper treatment, personalised asthma action plans, and regular monitoring, most people with asthma can lead normal, active lives.

What treatments are available for asthma?

Treatment may include inhalers (preventer and reliever), oral medications, lifestyle adjustments, and trigger management. Your GP will tailor a plan to your needs.

How often should I see my GP for asthma?

Regular check-ups are recommended to review your asthma action plan, adjust medications, and monitor lung function. Frequency depends on the severity of your asthma.

Can children with asthma attend school safely?

Yes. With an appropriate asthma action plan, medication, and trigger management, children with asthma can participate safely in school and sports activities.

What should I do during an asthma flare-up?

Follow your asthma action plan and use your reliever inhaler. If symptoms are severe or do not improve, seek medical attention immediately.
